Audacity Poster

This poster was created as part of a design project centered around a single word: audacity. My classmates and I were each given the same word and asked to interpret what it meant to us through our own poster designs.
At the end of the project, the most popular design was selected to be displayed in the school. Like many of my projects, music played a role in my creative process, so I included an audio clip that reflects the mood I had in mind while designing this piece.

When I think about the word audacity, I imagine someone being incredibly brave, even when there is significant risk involved. As I reflected on the meaning of the word, I kept coming back to the image of a ballerina dancing on the edge of a tall building at night. The dancer is graceful but fearless, moving freely and showing her passion for dance despite the danger.
As I began the project, I created an outline of a city inspired by London. I wanted the artwork to feel abstract and layered with meaning.
The moon in the design was created using a mixture of paint, sugar, and flour, which I scanned and then incorporated into the composition in Adobe Photoshop. The clock is actually a painted eye, symbolizing both light and attention within the piece.
The dancer was cut from black poster paper, and her skirt was created using a mixture of feathers and black glitter that were carefully glued together. I wanted the skirt to have texture and movement so it wouldn’t feel flat, adding more dimension and depth to the overall piece.

When applying the poster designs to mockups, I chose mockups that shared a similar color palette but still offered something unique. I selected this particular mockup because the contrasting colors and added depth help the poster stand out while maintaining a cohesive visual presentation.
